I earned my PhD in Sociology from Harvard University before joining Vanderbilt University as an Assistant Professor of Environmental Sociology in 2023.
I study the social effects of climate change with a focus on climate change adaptation and migration. I take a global approach to my research and contribute to the subfields of environmental sociology, global and transnational sociology, and migration studies.
Originally from rural North Carolina, I worked in research and community development after earning my B.A. in Public Policy Analysis from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I served in the US Peace Corps in Colombia, South America before graduate school and completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship funded by the US Forest Service and US National Parks Service before joining Vanderbilt.
